Cultural Plaza
PROJECT
Location: Gainesville, Florida
Materials: Vellum, Colored Pencil, Ink
The client requested a new design of University of Florida's Cultural Plaza
to include a newly built structure. After an analysis of the vehicular
circulation,
pedestrian patterns and existing aesthetic qualities of the site it became
clear that the site's inefficient pedestrian routes lacked an enjoyable and
comfortable user experience.
The objective of this redesign was to form a continuity of space through the
connection the different "rooms." In addition to the flow between
spaces,
minimizing pedestrian and vehicular conflict would much improve the users
sense of site. these objectives are to be designed in a way to showcase
the natural features found throughout the state of Florida. These features
include karst rock, streams & springs, forests and marshland. In improving
the character of space and diversifying the differing spaces, this new
design
will bring more life to the space making is a viable part of the University of
Florida's
main campus.
